“Sunday, Courtney wasn’t well enough to go to church, so we listened online…. Courtney has always liked the tune ‘Ashokan Farewell’ and says that it says, ‘God sent His only Son to die for our salvation.’ She’s wanted me to write the rest of it for a while. So, since we couldn’t be at church to encourage others, I wrote this. I reserve the right to tweak the wording here or there, but here is its current form. Maybe it will encourage you. I called it ‘Glory’s Path.’”
GLORY’S PATH
God sent His only Son to die for our salvation,
The heavens were opened, God spoke from above.
His well-beloved Son came to make a new creation,
A people to follow His pathway of love.
Chorus:
I’ll follow my Lord, wherever He leadeth,
The road may be rough, or smooth.
Glory’s path is the one that I have most needed,
To teach me to live day by day in His truth.
God sent His only Son to die for our salvation,
He cleansed and forgave us, and made us His flock,
God sent His only Son to provide a sure foundation,
Our hope is anchored upon a rock!
God sent His only Son to live as our example,
He calls us to live in His righteousness,
He dwells within our hearts, He says that we’re His temple,
He bought us to show forth His holiness.
God will send His only Son to bring us safely to Him,
The path may be bumpy, its ending is sure.
Glory’s lights may be obscured, but they never can be made dim,
My future is with Him, completely secure.
“We have a playlist we listen to every time we go to Denver. Included on that list is Highland Cathedral. If the Scottish Highlands can be a cathedral, declaring the glory of God, so also can Colorado’s Front Range, so it seemed a fitting thing to add to our playlist. Courtney had said that it would be nice to sing along with it, but the standard words didn’t fit what we think the music says, so yes, I wrote another one. I hope it encourages you.”
“Lord Who Created Mountains, Sea, and Sky”
Lord Who created mountains, sea, and sky,
God of eternity, enthroned on High,
Sov’reign before Whom every knee shall bend,
Master and Maker, angels Thee attend.
Chorus:
King of Pow’r, Ruler, Great “I Am,”
We fall before Thy holy face,
Saviour, Lord, Sacrificial Lamb,
We stand lifted up by grace!
Lord Who created mountains, sea, and sky,
Saviour for all upon a cross did die,
Bearing my sin upon that bitter tree,
Bearing my guilt, my pain, my agony.
Lord Who created mountains, sky, and sea,
Lord of Salvation, coming soon for me!
Thee I must honour, if by life or death,
Lord, I will praise Thee to my final breath!
